Phytoremediation of mercury contaminated mining sites in Ghana and Burkina Faso with arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi

Overall objective of the project: To reduce soil contamination caused by the mercury used in gold mining in Ghana and Burkina Faso

Visiting Team: Professors and PhD students from the University of Hohenheim in Germany, a Scientist from INOQ (which is a private company in Germany) as well as a Scientist from the CSIR-Crops Research Institute.

Purpose of Visit: To have firsthand information about the equipment available in the Chemistry and Microbiology laboratories at the CSIR-Soil Research Institute for implementing the project activities, and also see opportunities for knowledge exchange between SRI and the German institutions including the University of Hohenheim and INOQ.
