Where Learning Begins
The Institute has since 2016 received accreditation to run a 2 - year Mphil. Programmme in Soil Health and Environmental Resources Management(SHEM) at Kwadaso in Kumasi, as one of the campuses of the CSIR College of Science and Technology (CCST). The programme trains new cadre of Soil Scientists and Environmentalists with holistic theoretical as well as extensive practical skills in knowledge and technologies development for sustainable management of tropical soils and rehabilitation of disturbed environment for improved agricultural productivity and environmental health.
The strength of the SHEM programme lies in the deployment of world class laboratory infrastructure, modern IT packages and platforms as well as vast array of research facilities to support the programme.
The Research Scientists who lecture and supervise thesis works have several decades of extensive practical skills in addressing land use challenges of farmers in the laboratories, research stations and also on farmers’ fields.
