The CSIR-Soil Research Institute is a public sector research Institution that has been established by Ghana Government, to generate scientific  information and technologies for planning, development and management of the soil resources of Ghana for increased and sustainable agriculture, industry and environmental quality.

The strength of the CSIR-Soil Research Institute lies in its well trained, dedicated and experienced staff, who adopts multidisciplinary approach, scientific excellence, breadth and depth of scientific and  technological skills, to generate high quality, holistic and innovative solutions to clients in sustainable soil resources management.

CSIR-SRI undertakes the following research programs

Land Evaluation

Undertakes soil resources survey, classification, mapping and their evaluation for sustainable agriculture and other land uses.

Soil Fertility Management

Generates all forms of innovations for integrated soil fertility management towards improved soil quality, increased crop production, environmental quality, food security, improved incomes and enhanced livelihood for farmers

Soil, Water and Environmental Engineering

Generates all forms of innovations for integrated soil fertility management towards improved soil quality, increased crop production, environmental quality, food security, improved incomes and enhanced livelihood for farmers

Laboratory Analytical Services

Provides physio-chemical and biological analytical services on soil, plant(including fruit, seed, vegetables) water and fertilizer samples for research and developmental purposes. Also undertakes heavy metals level analysis for food safety purposes

Research Commercialization

Coordinates effective promotion of the developed innovations for their adoption for food security, environmental sanity and also for further knowledge development. It also oversees activities that lead to internal generation of funds to support research and development
