In a colour ceremony, a Seven-Member Management Board has been constituted for the CSIR-Soil Research Institute (SRI) at Kwadaso, Kumasi. The board namely; Dr Andrea Bationo (Chairman-Eminent Scientists), Nana Kwaku Siaw (member-Traditional Council), Prof. Gabriel Nii Noi Dowuona (member-Academia), Prof. Moses Brandford Mochiah (member-Cognate Director), Mr Elvis Oduro-Ansah (member-Private Sector), Dr Edward Yeboah (member-Director, CSIR-Soil Research Institute (SRI) and Mrs Genevieve Yankey (member-Corporate Director), is an assembled of varied experts aimed at ensuring developments at the Soil Research Institute (SRI).
The Management Board at CSIR-SRI Institute is chaired by eminent personalities who report to the Council through the Director-General on outcomes of Management Board meetings.
The CSIR Council Chair Prof, Robert Adaboh, in his address intimated that the formation of the Board is to strengthen the governance structures in the CSIR-Soil Research Institute and to ensure that concerns of staff and the development of SRI are resolved easily.
In his acceptance speech, Dr Andrea Bationo, the Chairman of the Board expressed their gratitude and expressed their readiness assiduously to ensure a harmonious working environment.
“I accept this great responsibility and pledge my willingness to work with the Management Board members and staff to make the SRI Institute, a centre of excellence in research and innovation in tropical soil resources management”, he added.
According to Dr Bationo, the Board will work with the Institute’s strategic plan on the four pillars namely;
These pillars, he said, would help the Board to achieve targets sets as well as the output and the outcomes of the Institute.
He again hinted at some of the challenges at SRI, which include;
Dr Bationo indicated that the Management Board will work closely with the Institute’s Internal Management Committee to address these challenges.
The occasion also saw the introduction of the newly appointed CSIR Director-General, Prof. Paul Pinnock Bosu to staff and Management at the Soil Research Institute (SRI).
